The tragic loss of a club rower whilst on the River Stour near Canterbury, has led to the Spitfire Rowing Club turning to RALPHH, in attempting to avoid a repeat heart attack outcome on the water.

Near Canterbury, the Club maintains a large collection of different size boats and equipment. The surrounding area is popular with walkers and those fishing, as well as busy moorings for pleasure craft.

Making the presentation of the gifted defibrillator was Laurence Allen, brother of Robert whose life and achievements in rowing spurred the creation of the RALPHH charity shortly after his death from a heart attack.

With its origins in the sport of rowing, RALPHH remains keen to plug the gaps in rowing clubs and schools that row which do not currently have their own defibrillation equipment nearby in the case of an unforeseen emergency.
