SHEPTON MALLET SCORES A DEFIBRILLATOR WITH RALPHH

The RALPHH charity has come to the aid of a hockey club that neighbours the home of the famous Babycham drink.

Shepton Mallet Hockey Club is a thriving centre of the sport with three men’s and two ladies’ teams playing every Saturday. Additionally, there are teams of Under 8’s, Under 10’s, 12’s and 14’s. The first eleven play in Division One South of the national hockey leagues. Membership stands at over 200, with players travelling as far as Gloucester, Devon and Cornwall for matches. Players have gone on to play for England, whilst in the Masters group, the team won the national top prize for under-65s.

Making the presentation of a defibrillator on behalf of RALPHH was Jane Allen, mother of the late Robert, in whose name the charity was created and accredited in 2019.  This gift to Shepton Mallet Hockley Club marked the 90th gift provided to sports clubs of all types since the charity’s formation.

This club is undoubtedly doing much to encourage a growing interest in the sport of hockey and their efforts are clearly paying dividends.
