SCOTLAND’S HIGH PERFORMANCE ROWING CENTRE GAINS A SPECIAL GIFT FROM RALPHH

The occasion of the National Schools’ Rowing Regatta at Dorney Water, Eton proved the perfect locations for RALPHH Trustee Tim Liversage (right) to present the gift of a defibrillator to Mike Martin, the President of Scottish Rowing.

The fine weather accompanied a weekend of rowing excellence, with Mike Martin also acting in his role as Chairman of the annual and keenly contested regatta. He said: 

“RALPHH does exceptional work across the UK for multiple sports. Under special circumstances we at Scottish Rowing are grateful to have received this defibrillator to help protect our young athletes in Scotland.”

He also highlighted one of the lesser known contributions to rowing by RALPHH, which is the annual sponsorship of a cardiac testing programme that takes place as part of the GB Junior Rowing trials.When not in use at Scottish Rowing events, the defibrillator will be kept at the high performance rowing centre in Motherwell.

Adding his thoughts to a unique presentation outside the charity’s remit in England and Wales, Tim Liversage said: “RALPHH continues to move forward in its mission to protect young athletes and all sportspeople. The reach and impact we have achieved, driven by the quiet determination of all of the trustees and the involvement of schools such as Kingston Grammar School and Windsor Boys’ School, has shone an important light on rowing doing more to safeguard the participants in such an excellent sport.”
