With an estimated 30-minute journey to A&E services at Great Yarmouth it is no wonder that Beccles Rowing Club needed its own defibrillation equipment- and RALPHH was on hand to provide the solution.
Tucked away in part of the most southerly section of the Norfolk Broads, this club has some 50 members and was established in 1989. It is positioned on a winding part of the Waverley River. Whilst close to a tidal stretch, the opposite direction offers unlimited water. With the area used by swimmers, paddleboarders and kayakers, the summertime weather also attracts tourists to a nearby camp site.

Overseeing the defibrillator presentation by RALPHH Chairman Richard Allen was the Mayoress of Beccles Faith Darch (centre). Receiving the gift was Club Chair Janet Cobill (right) and Secretary Pippa Blair. They were joined by a range of members who included founder-member Robin De Vere Green; Safety Officer Hall; Captain Jono May as well Coach John Bartrum, plus members Alan Wheeler, Rosie Jones, Kerry Foster, Polly Amoss and Vicky Perry.
Since its launch in 2018 the RALPHH charity has been very active across East Anglia. Among others to receive defibrillator gifts have been a riding school for the disabled; a sailing club in King’s Lynn as well as other rowing clubs at Downham Market and Woodbridge.
