Surbiton Probus Club has donated £750 to the RALPHH charity to help advance the availability of defibrillators in amateur sporting locations.
The money – raised throughout the year through raffles organised by the Club – was presented to RALPHH Chairman Richard Allen (left) at a lunch at Glenmore House in Surbiton. Making the presentation was the retiring Club Chairman, Neil McAlpine who had nominated RALPHH as recipients of the funds during his year in office.
Probus is a club of retired business people, often with past links to the Rotary organisation, but who look to be less activity in charitable activities. The Surbiton Club is one of the most active in the North Surrey and South West London area.
Based in Berrylands, Surbiton the RALPHH charity has had the most active year since its formation. It was created in the memory of the late Robert Allen, who died unexpectedly from an undiagnosed heart condition in 2018. Since then 43 local sporting organisations and those from as far afield as Gateshead, King’s Lynn, Sidmouth and Eastbourne have benefited from either gifts of defibrillation equipment or grants towards their cost.
Applications for support should be made to Richard Allen at richardallen52@btinternet.com or by telephoning 0208 390 2732.
