MANCHESTER EFFORTS BRING RALPHH REWARD

Rowing students at Manchester University raised £785 For the RALPHH charity by participating in a sponsored row on the Bridgewater Canal in late March.

The money was presented to the charity’s Chairman Richard Allen when he visited the Boathouse in Sale. Making the presentation of the money was Treasurer Neerav Patel (second from the left) and joining him were Manchester Boat Club President Matt Mace and Committee Member Taras Mandziuk. Earlier in the year, the charity – one of whose key purposes is to improve the availability of defibrillators at sports clubs and school sports departments – was able to provide a machine which is now kept in the case of emergency in the Boathouse at Sale.

“We are so grateful for the fine efforts of all the Manchester University students who took part,” said Richard Allen, Chairman of the RALPHH charity. “This money will help us continue with the valuable work of providing potentially life-saving machines, and improving the availability of cardiac testing for people of all ages engaging in strenuous sports.”

Formerly established as a charity in 2019, RALPHH has so far provided 90 defibrillators nationwide and for four continuous years sponsored a cardiac testing programme for those on the verge of being considered to join the Junior GB Rowing squad.
