Preparations for the 2026 cricket season are well underway in Hertfordshire.
Helped by the donation of a defibrillator by RALPHH, the Hertfordshire County Over-70’s are looking forward to 14 fixtures against other counties in the improving weather, beginning on 27th April with an away match against Surrey.
Receiving the potentially life-saving equipment was Fourth Eleven Captain and all-rounder Jeffrey Permutt (centre) from RALPHH Chairman Richard Allen (right). They were joined by Herts Seniors Cricket Chairman Michael Dobner.
Over-60’s cricket in the County continues to grow in participants and now Hertfordshire runs three over 50’s teams; four over-60’s and five over 70’s Elevens. Pre-season all of the teams attend nets practice at Hatfield College, beginning in the first week of January.
In the Spring of 2025 RALPHH provided defibrillators for five of the County’s teams. Later in that year the group made an important donation to the charity, with money raised from among its members.
The RALPHH charity has had a busy year in supporting cricket clubs across the country. Since the origins of the charity in 2019, 79 clubs from a wide range of sports have benefited from the charity’s donation of defibrillation equipment.
