COUNTY TEAM BENEFIT FROM RALPHH CONNECTION

RALPHH’s work in support of cricket has been extended in Yorkshire.

Players from the Yorkshire 60+ County Cricket teams assembled at Elsecar Cricket Club ground, Barnsley to receive a defibrillator from RALPHH Chairman, Richard Allen. 

The Club has been very successful over the last two years, reaching the National Final on each occasion.

There are 38 active members and games against other counties take place all over Yorkshire, as well as nationwide. Over the winter months there is net practice at a Wakefield location. The Club is also involved in overseas tours that include trips to Barbados, St Lucia and other West Indies. Chairman Alan Steers recalls how on one visit he even had the great Sir Garfield Sobers make him a cup of tea. Next on the agenda is a possible tour to Malta.

Over 5,000 people aged over 60 take part weekly in cricket matches across the country, many playing at a high standard. RALPHH has been keen to support such groups. Earlier this year the charity was able to give a defibrillator to the neighbouring Over-60’s group of Yorkshire Ridings.
