RALPHH achieved its seventy-fifth gift of defibrillation equipment when a presentation was made to Mayflower Offshore Rowing Club Captain Sophie Conbeer.

A strong competitor in the South Coast Rowing League of nine clubs, stretching from Dorset to Falmouth, Mayflower’s six-kilometre course is at Plymouth Sound, but in the worst of the winter months the 45-member club turns to the shelter of the River Tamar.

Established in 2003, the Club competes in quads, doubles and singles.

“We never go out in anything above Force 4”, said Sophie, who is also the learn to row co-ordinator. Club premises are two portacabins, one of which is used as a gym.

Mayflower is the second rowing club RALPHH has assisted in the West Country city. In March 2023 a defibrillator was given to Plymouth Rowing Club, based at Arnold’s Point, The Embankment, Plymouth.
